 Yesterday was a huge day for the neglected tropical disease (NTD) community. A consortium of organizations ? including 13 pharmaceutical companies, the US, UK, and UAE governments, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the World Bank, the World Health Organization, and more ? announced in London the largest coordinated push in the history of fighting NTDs. Combined, they will research, develop, donate, and distribute billions of drugs, with the hope of ending or controlling the ten most prevalent neglected diseases by 2020.
